Vilmorin’s Rowan
An excellent ornamental rowan for the small garden, Sorbus vilmorinii is a small, elegantly spreading, deciduous tree. Flat, fluffy heads of creamy-white flowers in early summer are followed in autumn by rose-pink berries which slowly fade through pale pink to white, and persist into winter. The leaves are very attractive, olive green and deeply divided, almost fern-like, and turn crimson-purple in autumn. Average to slow-growing tree, and a good resource for wildlife. Vilmorin’s Rowan holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
