Shrub Rose Peace
Also known as Mme A. Meilland, after the father and son propagators’ deceased wife and mother, Rosa Peace received its better-known name on the liberation of France after World War II. It’s a medium-sized, vigorous, deciduous, repeat-flowering, hybrid tea or large-flowered shrub rose with a tall, branching habit. The generous foliage is divided into slightly serrated, ovate leaflets, and is a deep, glossy green. From midsummer to late autumn, tall, elegant yellow and crimson buds open to large, high-centred, fully double flowers which are a beautiful soft yellow with pink edges to the petals; they stand up to rain well, and make excellent cut flowers. The scent is light-to-medium in strength, and sweet rather than tea-scented. Shrub rose Peace is a tough, healthy, deservedly popular rose.
