Rose Fru Dagmar Hastrup –Â Rugosa Rose
A charming, repeat-flowering rugosa rose bred in Denmark, Rosa Fru Dagmar Hastrup is a medium-sized, vigorous, deciduous shrub rose with a compact, upright, bushy, suckering habit, and very prickly stems. The divided, leathery leaves have narrow leaflets that are very deeply veined and a bright glossy green, turning yellow in autumn. From July to September, pointed buds open to very pretty, single, light rose-pink flowers with golden stamens and a light to medium strength fragrance reminiscent of clover. These are followed by large, red, tomato-like hips, which often appear at the same time as the later flowers. A very healthy, robust rose, it works in a border or as a pretty, flowering hedge. Rose Fru Dagmar Hastrup holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
