Rose Benjamin Britten –Â David Austin Shrub Rose
A repeat-flowering David Austin English rose, Rosa Benjamin Britten is a medium-sized, deciduous shrub rose with a dense, upright, bushy habit and glossy, deep green foliage. From midsummer to autumn, the shrub bears deeply cup-shaped, fully double flowers crammed with petals in orange-red, fading to pinkish-red, with an intense, fruity fragrance redolent of wine and pear drops. Rose Benjamin Britten repeats from June right into October, if the weather remains mild; it’s good in borders, and is narrow enough for a specimen in a courtyard garden, where its lovely fragrance and rich blooms will be especially appreciated.
